An updated meta-analysis of the efficacy and safety of acupuncture treatment for vascular cognitive impairment without dementia.
Abstract Vascular cognitive impairment with no dementia (VCIND) refers to a transitional state and will progress to dementia. Currently, effective medicines to control VCIND are surprisingly scarce. Acupuncture intervention is frequently advocated as an adjunct treatment for VCIND in recent studies. So the aim of this meta-analysis was to assess the clinical efficacy and safety of acupuncture for VCIND. The literature search was conducted in English and Chinese databases from inception until July 2015, and 15 study populations were included in the meta-analysis. Mean differences with their 95% confidence interval ...

Traditional Chinese herbal medicine for vascular dementia.
CONCLUSIONS: We found moderate- to very low-quality evidence of benefit and harm of TCHMs for VaD. Methodological inadequacies need to be addressed by better conducted and reported trials. We identified NaoMaiTai, NaoXinTong and TongXinLuo as warranting special research priority. PMID: 30520514 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Assessing the quality of reports about randomized controlled trials of scalp acupuncture treatment for vascular dementia
ConclusionsThe overall quality of reports on RCTs of SA treatment for VD was moderate to low. The quality of methodological items was markedly lower than that of other items. The CONSORT and STRICTA guidelines should be used more frequently to standardize the quality of RCT reports of SA treatment for VD.

Scalp acupuncture for patients with vascular dementia: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trails
Conclusion: This study will provide available evidence to judge whether scalp acupuncture is an effective and safe intervention for patients with VD. It also will provide reliable evidence for its widespread application. Ethics and dissemination: This systematic review will provide convincing evidence for both patients and clinicians. It does not require ethical approval and the results will be published in a peer-reviewed journal. OSF Registration number: DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/7CYZR.

Imaging the brain and vascular reactions to headache treatments: a systematic review
ConclusionSeveral aspects of headache treatments remain to be elucidated using imaging approaches, such as how pharmacological preventive therapies work, whether treatment-related brain changes may influence therapy effectiveness, and imaging biomarkers of clinical response. In the future, well-designed studies with homogeneous study populations, adequate sample sizes and statistical approaches are needed.

Electroacupuncture attenuates vascular hyporeactivity in a rat model of portal hypertension induced by bile duct ligation
CONCLUSION: EA attenuates TNF-α, NO and 6-keto-PGF1α overproduction, modulates the vascular levels of constitutive NOS and PKC-α, blunts the development of the angiogenesis cascade, and enhances vascular contractile force in PHT rats.PMID:34553631 | DOI:10.1177/09645284211039230
